Jaakkoo-Taara invested in a new folding machine for medical leaflet production at their factory this autumn. The machine was installed and put into operation at the beginning of November. Foreman Ilkka Laine says the new GUK folding machine is significantly more efficient than its predecessor.
– The production speed of the old machine was too slow for our needs. The new machine is technically similar to the old one but is upgraded, Laine explains.
In addition to increased production speed, the new machine has one significant difference from the old one. The new folding machine has 10 pockets where the folds are made. The previous machine had only six pockets, so the difference is substantial.
– The new machine allows us to make more folds at once. If there’s one pocket, we can produce a four-page fold. Now, the number of pages in the final product can increase dramatically, says Laine.
Even though the new folding machine is just one part of Jaakkoo-Taara’s overall production, every improvement is important.
– The thin instruction manuals that this machine is designed to produce are handled well. The quality is excellent, and the folding can be done much faster, Laine concludes.
