Environmental policy
This environmental policy covers all of Jaakkoo-Taara Oy’s operations. Jaakkoo-Taara Oy is committed to reducing the environmental impact of all its activities, and it demands the same from its partners, who are required to commit to our environmental policy and its principles.
For Jaakkoo-Taara, reducing the environmental impact is a key part of the corporate responsibility programme and an important focus area. Jaakkoo-Taara is committed to complying with environmental legislation, regulations, and requirements set by the authorities. We meet the expectations of our customers and society by assessing our operations and making them more environmentally efficient. We maintain an open dialogue with stakeholders. Environmental management is based on an ISO 14001:2015-certified environmental management system, in which environmental risks are identified, and metrics and targets are defined for each identified environmental aspect. The suitability, sufficiency, and effectiveness of the environmental management system are assessed annually through internal and external audits and during the management review.
We operate under the principle of continuous improvement, and environmental factors are incorporated into the company’s decision-making processes. We ensure adequate resourcing to promote our environmental activities and train our personnel. We regularly communicate our environmental work to our personnel and other stakeholders. We thoroughly investigate any environmental deviations and observations.
We regularly monitor and comply with environmental laws and regulations. We work with the authorities, our customers, and other stakeholders to ensure that our environmental work meets the expectations and requirements set for our operations. We place similar requirements on our suppliers. We require our key material and service suppliers to hold ISO 14001 certification, and expect all other suppliers to operate in accordance with the standard.
We reduce the environmental and climate impacts of our production and transport by switching to renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and monitoring water consumption. We also continuously work to improve material efficiency through measures such as efficient waste recycling and minimising production waste and losses caused by quality anomalies.
