Earlier this year, we invested in a new 7-color HP Indigo 35K digital printing press. After the machine arrived at our production facility this spring, operator training sessions got underway.
The main training program for the digital press lasted two weeks. In addition, the operators (press operators) completed a one-week training course on using the varnishing unit. Both programs covered not only operation but also machine maintenance.
The printing press training was led by Frances, whose enthusiasm and expertise made a strong impression on the operators. Frances had an in-depth understanding of the machine and was passionate about teaching its operation. The varnishing unit training was conducted by André, who got the operators working with the equipment right away so they could learn through hands-on experience.
The operators are excited about the new printing press and the opportunities it brings.
– One of the great features of the machine is that all the colors remain loaded at all times. As a result, there are hardly any color changeovers, says operator Arttu Häyrinen.
The operators are also very pleased with the machine’s quality and print results.
– Color management is clearly more precise and easier than on the machine I used previously, says operator Artturi Rantanen.
The digital press is capable of reproducing up to 90% of Pantone colors. It is also equipped with a Tresu iCoat II coating unit, which supports both water-based and UV varnishes. In addition, the new machine enables variable data printing.
A production ramp-up training program is scheduled for the summer, after which full-scale production will begin. Additional training sessions on the machine will also be held later, and both Häyrinen and Rantanen are looking forward to taking part.
